The romance of an alpine steam railway
Starting from the lakeside station in Brienz, situated at 1850 feet above sea level, the Brienz Rothorn Bahn conveys you in 60 awe inspiring minutes from the warm temperatures on the Lake of Brienz up to the cool mountain air at the summit of the Rothorn Kulm at 7362 feet.
The journey into the Swiss Alps commences at the picturesque valley station and as soon as you hear the first impatient bark of exhaust and feel the powerful thrust from the steam locomotive, you know she’s digging into the 1 in 4 gradient and that your ‘trip of a life time’ has commenced. More
Hiking
The Brienzer Rothorn is the ideal place to plan a hiking tour. There are six varied and well signposted mountain routes to choose from and these are never far from the sights and sounds of the railway locomotives in action.
Fireman's (Stoker's) Course
The Brienz Rothorn Railway is able to offer you the chance to not just throw a few shovels of coal into the firebox but to undertake a planned series of courses that lead to a certified level of competence. More
Alpine Hotel/restaurant
The alpine hotel and restaurant Rothorn Kulm is situated just a few yards from the summit station anchored to the ridge of the alpine peak. As our guest you select from the range of traditional meals on offer whilst admiring the view from the top of the alpine range.
